Our sports teams are bringing students together to get in shape and learn the games. Laura Garnica, class of 2010, says, “I love being a part of the soccer team. It has taught me the meaning of team work and hard work. We might not win a lot, but we definitely have a lot of fun!”

This fall our boys’ soccer team suffered a few injuries but managed victories over Pope John XXIII and Cathedral. The young team was made up of mostly underclassmen, with junior Brandon Melendez and senior Fernando Rincon as captains. The Catholic Central League All-stars were Freshmen, Kevin Martinez and Stephen Lopez. The Lady Panthers captains, Laura Garnica, Rebecca Pierre, and Yarlennys Villaman, members of the class of 2010, had a few really tight games against St. Clements and Trinity Catholic this season. Laura Garnica was also recognized by the Catholic Central League as an All-star.  Meanwhile, the volleyball team was led by captains Jade Greene and Katiuska Fernandez, class of 2011. It was a rebuilding year for varsity after losing 5 seniors, but the Junior Varsity team had a very successful season winning most of their games.

This winter our girls’ basketball team won their season opener, beating Cathedral. Captains this year are juniors Katiuska Fernandez, Jessica Clergeau, and senior Yarlennys Villaman. They will face Maimonides tonight at 6:00pm and Friday take on Cathedral again, at 4:30pm at the Armory in Cambridge.

After two very successful seasons, the boys’ basketball team is going through a rebuilding year with only three members of the varsity team returning. They are led by senior captains, Kyron Owens and David Jean-Jacques.  This Friday they will travel to Arlington Catholic to fight for victory. Junior Varsity plays at 5:00pm and Varsity starts at 6:30pm. Come cheer on the Panthers!
